Hi all.
My name is Phillip and I live with my wife Enid, son Dafydd, daughter Megan, dogs Shani and Pipin, hamster Pig and of course Castle Bunnies, a small stud of rabbits,on the North West coast of Wales, in a small village with a long name, Penrhyndeudraeth close to the famous Italiante village of Portmeirion.
This is a family interest that started when my daughter wanted a pet rabbit and has continued to grow as our interest and knowledge of these lovely creatures grows. There is a lot more to rabbits than owning a pet, although this is a very nice pet to own and a very good way to get introduced to them.
Here at Castle Bunnies it is our intention to create lines of quality mini lion lop and mini lop rabbits plus one or two other breeds, which are as close to the BRC standard as possible, using rabbits that we can trace back to existing winning lines and champion bloodlines of the past were posible.
We may be fairly new to the rabbit sceen but I am not new to breeding and genetics. I was brought up on a farm and have always kept livestock of some description for most of my life. In my early teens I kept mice, cavies, rabbits, sheep and even a donkey. My late father used to keep and show blue beveren rabbits and rare breed cavies. My late brother was a gamekeeper and a real countryman. He kept all types of livestock for pleasure as well as for work. My last hobby before rabbits was to build up a succesful stud of budgies before having to give up the hobby due to health reasons. All the genetics for breeding budgies were taken from the breeding of rabbits, so I have an understanding that will help me in the creation of our lines. Although, I am still trying to get my head around some of the colour genetics. I do not yet have the knowledge and the wrong advice on this subject can be very detrimental to your stock. I am not going to go into pages and pages of genetics as there are some very good sites on the subject and I commend them for the work they have put into them. If you need to know about genetics I strongly reccomend you take a look at the web site of Phil Batey at Ruskin Stud, the link is on other pages on our site.
These projects will take time and careful breeding to put into practice but will be well worth it in the end.

Our other pets are Shani, a Jack Russell cross Border Terrier, Pipin a Jack Russell Terrier, and Sid the Miami Corn snake, a real stunning looking reptile. We also have a large tropical fish tank,
