CASTLE BUNNIES

                 The   Reds/Orange & Red Agouties,

               Castle Bunnies High Rufus Project

This is my second project and though a challenging one, a very rewarding one. As with all new colours it is a very on going project that will take time to perfect.

When Castle Bunnies first started and while searching through the many sites of fellow breeders, I stumbled across a web site and looked in amazement at these lovely REW rabbits. Then clicking on a link I saw some rabbits that I could not get out of my head and knew that one day I would have to have some. They were a red-agouti,a haaskleur (hare coloured ) and a red mini lop. The site was Phil Batey`s Ruskin Stud. Phill very kindly helped Megan with her black mini lops, by providing two foundation does for her line, at the same time we were offered a red-agouti doe and a red buck which we could not refuse. And my project was born.

                     Ruby                                               Tango

As I breed mini lion lops here I decided it would also be good to breed  mini lion lops in the same colours. Having test mated a sooty fawn buck to the doe, she threw cocolate and choc point, also a rabbit that was almost red in colour. After asking Phil`s advice it was confirmed that the double maned doe could be included in the project,

             Castle`s    Amber,                                           Tilly,

Tilly  who came to us from Gary & Mark at seacliff stud is our main breeding doe for the Red project,

                                  Castle`s  Taz

Taz our first High Rufus  baby is now five months of age and we are pleased with the correction of ears  showing, though there is still work to be done,

Taz is a single mane Red Mini Lion Lop Buck,

before our Agouti buck Rocky left for his new home we decided to use him to improve the ear carrage in the reds so he was mated  to ruby and a little red agouti doe we had from phil also, the results were four high rufus Agouti two does and two Bucks all of wich we are very pleased with, and look forward to seeing the improvment next year,

we also have two orange and are soon to gain a little orange buck to carry on with the improvment of the high rufus colours here at Castle Bunnies,
